3. My Step-by-Step Studio Application & Styling Routine
In Part 3 of our guide to @itsamyruth, let’s talk hands-on technique.
You don’t need a professional backstage kit if you layer your prep in the right order.

Pin Look
How I Recreate It in Under 15 Minutes
Start with a heat protectant and a dime-sized drop of smoothing serum through the mid-lengths, then blow-dry with a round brush to add base volume.
Section the hair into four quadrants.
And curl each piece with a 1.25-inch wand, holding for 8–10 seconds and dropping the curl into your palm to cool that’s the trick to making it last.
Once all sections are done, run your fingers through gently to break up the curls, then pin back the front section on the heavier side for that soft, romantic frame.
Finish with a light mist of flexible hold spray from a foot away.
And tuck any stray pieces with a bobby pin that matches the hair color nobody wants to see a metal glint in photos.
