2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on @itsamyruth.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
If your client has warm undertones, lean into honey-toned highlights or add a few face-framing pieces with a 1-inch barrel for extra brightness.
For cooler skin, a gloss with a pearlized finish will make the waves catch the light without washing out the complexion.
Texture matters too: for thick hair, go looser with a larger barrel and skip the backcombing—it’ll just poof.
For fine hair, tease the crown lightly and use a flexible hairspray, not the rock-hard kind.
So the waves stay soft but still have that prom-ready polish.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
Keeping a saved reference photo on your phone makes it easy to compare subtle details, textures, and color harmony before you start.
