2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Ready to Rock French Curl Braids?.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
For warm undertones, I’ll pull in caramel or honey highlights through the braiding hair to mimic sun-kissed dimension.
It softens the face and makes the curls pop.
If you’re cool-toned, go for jet black or an icy platinum; the contrast makes those spirals look extra sharp.
Texture-wise, you can ask your stylist for tighter, spring-like curls for a playful vibe.
Or larger, looser waves for a more elegant, red-carpet feel.
I always recommend adjusting the curl size based on your face shape.
Rounder faces love longer, looser curls to elongate, while angular faces can rock tighter coils for balance.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
