2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Pin by Marianne O' Hear on Make Up in 2020 | Sparkly eye makeup, Makeup eye looks, Artistry makeup.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Pin Look
Finding Your Most Flattering Version
If you have cool undertones, swap the warm golds for champagne and rose-gold shades.
They’ll make your eyes pop without clashing with your skin.
For deeper skin tones, I love adding a rich bronze or copper in the outer corner to add depth and dimension.
Texture matters too: if you prefer a softer shimmer, press the metallic shade with your finger instead of a brush for a more diffused finish.
Or, if you’re feeling bold, layer a liquid glitter on the center of the lid for that ‘wet look’ that’s trending right now.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
Keeping a saved reference photo on your phone makes it easy to compare subtle details, textures, and color harmony before you start.
