2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Butterfly Locs Hair.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Pin Look
Finding Your Most Flattering Version
For warm undertones, I lean into golden or honey-blonde highlights woven through the locs to add depth and warmth.
Cooler undertones pop with ash brown or a subtle burgundy.
Which creates a beautiful contrast against the skin.
You can also play with the curl size tighter curls for a more defined look.
Or looser waves for that boho feel.
I always adjust the part and placement based on face shape, like a deep side part to elongate round faces.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
