3. My Step-by-Step Studio Application & Styling Routine
In Part 3 of our guide to Balayage, let’s talk hands-on technique.
You don’t need a professional backstage kit if you layer your prep in the right order.

Pin Look
How I Recreate It in Under 15 Minutes
I start by prepping the hair with a volumizing mousse and rough-drying it to build a little grit.
Then I section from ear to ear, braid the back loosely.
And pin it into a low knot, leaving the ends to trail into a soft fishtail.
Once the braid is set, I tug at the edges to loosen it, then go in with a fine-tooth comb to pull out a few strands around the face.
I finish with a flexible-hold hairspray and a tiny bit of shine serum on the ends to keep the balayage looking glossy, not stiff.

Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
