2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on 2022 Boho Wedding Ideas.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
If you have warm, golden undertones, ask your colorist for honey-toned babylights around the face.
They catch the light and make the braid look dimensional.
For olive or deeper skin, a rich chestnut or espresso base with subtle caramel ribbons adds that sun-kissed contrast.
Texture-wise, go for a matte, air-dried finish rather than glossy shine.
I love a salt spray or a lightweight texturizing powder at the roots.
If your hair is fine, add a few clip-in pieces at the crown for volume; if it’s thick, keep the braid looser to avoid a heavy, rope-like look.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
