2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Trend Alert: Celebs Can’t Stop Wearing the Half-Up, Half-Down Hairstyle.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
For warm undertones, I’ll add a subtle honey-gold gloss to the ends and pull the top section into a low, loose twist.
It catches the light beautifully.
For cooler or neutral skin, I’ll keep the base more ash-toned and do a higher, tighter half-up with a tiny braid wrapped around the elastic.
Texture is the real game-changer: fine hair needs a bit of dry shampoo and a crimped underlayer for grip.
While thick, curly hair benefits from a sleek, pulled-back top with defined curls below.
Adjust the proportion of hair pulled up.
More for oval faces, less for round or square to flatter every shape.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
