2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on @themaysway on insta 🖇️.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
For warm undertones, ask your stylist for a honey or caramel accent thread woven into the braids.
It adds a sun-kissed glow.
If you’re cool-toned, go for jet black or a subtle burgundy to make your skin pop.
Texture-wise, you can switch between chunky jumbo braids for a bold statement or micro braids for a delicate, intricate vibe.
I always tell clients with round faces to keep the braids tighter at the crown to elongate the silhouette.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
Keeping a saved reference photo on your phone makes it easy to compare subtle details, textures, and color harmony before you start.
