2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on #NYFW Street Style Trend Report | Fall 2017 — MappCraft.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
If you have warm undertones, swap a blue-based red for a brick or coral red in both the lip and the shoe.
It’ll harmonize beautifully.
For cooler undertones, stick with a true crimson or cherry red to keep the contrast crisp.
Texture matters too: a matte black dress with glossy red heels adds dimension.
While a satin dress with suede pumps feels more luxurious.
Play with proportions—a midi skirt with ankle-strap heels elongates the leg, whereas a mini dress with pointed-toe pumps creates a sharper silhouette.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
