2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Layered Prom Dress Navy Blue.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
If you have warm undertones, swap the rose blush for a peachy bronze and add a gold highlight on the cheekbones.
For cooler undertones, stick with a mauve or berry lip and a silver-toned highlight to mirror the dress’s depth.
Texture-wise, if the dress has layers of tulle or chiffon, go for a satin-finish foundation to balance the matte fabric.
If the dress is more structured, a dewy finish adds that romantic contrast.
Just keep it on the high points, not all over.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
Always check how the finish and proportions look in both natural window light and warm indoor lighting so the result feels effortless from every angle.
Keeping a saved reference photo on your phone makes it easy to compare subtle details, textures, and color harmony before you start.
