2. Customizing Undertones, Shades & Proportions
Welcome to Part 2 of my breakdown on Killer Wedding Hair Ideas For Every Kind of Hair | APW.
Before you lock in your final formula or outfit pairing, here is how I adapt the tones and textures for each client.

Finding Your Most Flattering Version
For warm undertones, I’d lean into honey or caramel highlights woven through the braid to catch light.
Cooler skin tones pop with ash blonde or deep espresso strands.
The contrast makes the braid look dimensional, not flat.
If your hair is fine, don’t go for a thick rope braid—it’ll look scraggly.
Instead, do a crown braid with a bit of backcombing at the roots.
Or add a small clip-in extension piece for volume.
For curly hair, embrace the frizz by braiding damp and letting it dry—it creates a soft, bohemian halo.
✦ Which Finish Fits Your Vibe?
- Velvet Rose-Gold Glow: Effortless, soft-focus dimension that flatters every skin tone in daytime or candlelight.
- High-Impact Statement Finish: Crisp lines, rich pigment payoff, and bold contrast for evening events or street-style photos.
- Balanced Proportions: Keep one feature bold while letting the surrounding textures stay airy and breathable.
