3. My Step-by-Step Studio Application & Styling Routine
In Part 3 of our guide to Braids That Look Just As Pretty At Work As On The Beach, let’s talk hands-on technique.
You don’t need a professional backstage kit if you layer your prep in the right order.

How I Recreate It in Under 15 Minutes
Start by prepping dry or second-day hair with a light styling cream, then divide into three sections at the nape.
I braid downward with a slight side angle.
Keeping tension loose so the finished braid has that airy, beachy feel.
Once braided, I gently pull at the outer edges to widen it.
This is the trick for that “effortless” look.
Finish with a flexible-hold hairspray misted from about a foot away, so it sets without crunch.
